Two Tent Weekend

On Saturday, we attended Hope in the Hamptons for St Jude Children's Research Hospital. The event was held in Water Mill at the Birdsall family property. This was the third annual benefit.
The Birdsall family began hosting this fundraiser in the Hamptons out of gratitude for the treatment of their grandson, at St Jude's Children's Research Hospital. After undergoing 3 1/2 years of cancer treatment starting when he was just two years old, Drew is now cancer free.
Drew and Don Lemon of CNN encouraging attendees to open their wallets for the kids.
Beautiful night for a great cause.

On Sunday afternoon we headed into Sag Harbor for the Big Tent Party for the Cinema
At the end of Long Wharf, outside the tent, a truck from Twin Forks Moving and Storage stood outside with THE SIGN. I have to admit, when I first saw it I got a lump in my throat.
If you look on Instagram, there are a bunch of selfies in front of the "SAG" portion of the sign. We love our Sag Harbor Cinema sign!
It was a happy mob scene.
Over 1000 people showed up.
Each one to support rebuilding the heart of main street.

Our paintings in the Art Auction for the Cinema were up at Grenning Gallery all day.
Both paintings sold above the minimum.
Fundraising success!
Thank you SO MUCH for bidding.

That Signature Look

Hugh and I will be out and about and sometimes observe someone dressed creatively. We may comment on that person "wearing their signature look". The tone of comment usually laced with irony. I have now become someone to be commented upon in this way. Yes, THAT person. I have taken to finding ways to wear my "designs" as often as possible, appropriate or not. I am enamored with the idea that I can place my paintings and photos on clothing, bags, phone covers, pillows among other things.  I am gripped with an insanity of creativity.  This week I wore leggings emblazoned with a repeat pattern of my photo of Farm Stand Flowers to the office. A contrast to my little black dress.

My exploration of art e-commerce began on Redbubble with the Seashell dress. Redbubble is an international company based in Melbourne, Australia and San Francisco USA. I found the site very easy to use. To begin a design, you upload an image and it appears on every product that they offer. The artist then goes through each item and decides what works and what doesn't. I am still learning technical things about image sizing, but my initial experiments are coming out better than I expected. The quality is good and the prices are reasonable. For example the leggings are $49, the A-Line dress is $65 and the scarves which are 55 inches square, are $35. The company often offers 20% off and purchases of more than one of something get discounted. Items are made to order so delivery takes a few weeks. If you have any questions, let me know!

Redbubble also manufactures art reproductions on canvas. I've just received my first canvas print. I'll show you how that came out soon. Stay tuned for more product research. At this stage, I'm my own best customer.

Plein Air Wooley Pond

Wooley Pond is a beloved spot.
The air was still as we began, reflections on the water inspired. As the day wore on the wind came up and the umbrellas came down. Luckily we had some shade nearby.
I hadn't painted boats for a while.  White highlights straight from the tube didn't look right. I mixed in small amounts of cadmium yellow light and that helped. I still need to play around with it. Deciding on color combinations improve with practice. More painting and practicing. All the while enjoying the pretty day.

Afterwards we went into Southampton for dinner at Red Bar. On the way, a brief shower and double rainbow.
A perfect day.

Child's Play in Bridgehampton

The Thirty Squared group show recently opened at the Children's Museum of the East End. I had never been to CMEE, so didn't know what to expect. The museum is amazing! I am honored to have my Rainbow Beach painting hanging in this astonishing space along with the work of east end artists who I admire. Thanks to Kimberly Goff of Elaine Benson Gallery for curating and coordinating a wonderful show. Thanks to Steve Long the Museum Director, Paul Johnson for publicity and the lovely staff at the Children's Museum for being our gracious hosts.
